Katrina Parris Digital Art Studio

I have a Fine Art background and was lucky enough to study Textiles and Embroidery at Goldsmiths College in the 1970s.  Since then I have developed my work by exploring different techniques through themes and completing commissions.   I have taught art and textiles to a wide range of ages and for 15 years was Head of Art in a Sixth Form College.
I am a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild, The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles and the Contemporary Quilt Group.

I create my artwork by developing designs and compositions from drawings, photos and colour studies.   My main medium is textiles and I particularly enjoy working with hand made textured felt, hand and machine stitching and quilting.  I make wall panels, items for interiors, clothing and accessories that are pieced, layered and stitched with an emphasis on surface design, colour and texture.   During research and production, new interests arise and lead to the next body of work that may involve mosaic or painting.
